This page lists all of the worlds of the Material Plane that have been featured in the Aethervane campaign. Most of these worlds are contained within Wildspace systems.
In spelljammer parlance, a system is usually referred to as its most notable feature followed by “-space.” For example, the system that contains the Rock of Bral is known as Bralspace.
Note that the arrangement of the systems (as depicted in the map below and as alluded to with the categories “Inner Flow” and “Outer Flow”) was rendered obsolete when the official lore of the 5th edition D&D Spelljammer books was adopted into the Aethervane campaign in 2022 (1494 DR in the in-game calendar). All of the systems described below still exist, but the Flow has been replaced by the Astral Plane, and the relative positions of the systems are now in constant flux. Rather than delete the map and the “Inner” and “Outer” categories, they have been preserved below in their original form for the sake of reference.
This map charts the positions of all worlds on the Material Plane that were known to the Seekers of the Aetherium as of the year 1492 DR.
As far as the Material Plane is concerned, the Aethervane campaign centers around the Inner Flow, a dense ring of crystal spheres connected by a complex network of Flow Rivers. At the center of the Inner Flow is a turbulent zone of phlogiston known as the Maelstrom. Many scholars and philosophers believe that the Maelstrom was created by the shattering of the legendary First World, aeons before the dawn of history. If that is true, the Inner Flow encircles the birthplace of the Material Plane itself.
The Inner Flow has seen the rise and fall of several spacefaring empires. The first, at least as far as surviving historical records attest, were the thri-kreen, followed by the illithids, and then by the “Unhumans,” a tenuous alliance of spacefaring orcs, ogres, goblins, and kobolds. This last faction was defeated by the Elven Imperial Navy some 400 years ago in an event known as the Unhuman War. Ever since, the Navy has dominated the Inner Flow, although a series of devastating attacks conducted by the scro (descendants of the Unhuman orcs) within the last 150 years or so have caused many to refer to the current era as the Second Unhuman War.
In addition to the Elven Imperial Navy and the scro, other prominent spacefaring factions found in the Inner Flow include the arcane, Clutchborn, Kings Within the Mountains, Republic of Zjala, and the Seekers of the Aetherium. Independent traders and pirates are also a constant presence, and the Inner Flow is occasionally threatened by incursions from dangerous races more commonly encountered in the Outer Flow, such as the beholders, illithids, and neogi.

Beyond the Inner Flow lies a much more dangerous and mysterious area of the Material Plane, hotly contested by warlike factions, including the Beholder Hives, Heralds of the Glorious Dawn, Illithid Dominion, murine, neogi, and scro. The factions of the Inner Flow have charted only the nearest worlds of the Outer Flow, and even the factions that dominate this area know little of what lies within the territories of their rivals.

There are no commonly known routes from the Inner Flow to any of the spheres below. But each can be reached by other means, such as by passing directly into the sphere via a color pool from the Astral Plane. These worlds are therefore “off the map,” as far as the Aethervane campaign is concerned. Some could lie in the farthest flung reaches of the Material Plane; others might be waiting to be discovered somewhere in the Inner or Outer Flow; and still others may be locked away in their own separate demiplanes.
