The Void Between is a religious organization that embraces the empty silence between stars and planets in the realm between light and darkness.
Those that worship, or as they put it "surrender themselves" to the void between. The worship of the empty silence between stars is reflecting on how little each and everyone person, planet, or star is in to the grand scheme of the universe. However, by reflecting and surrendering to the void you can conitnue to help those in fear or anxiety cross the stars and continue to reflect upon themselves while in the void. However, be truly accepting the void between, people can still enjoy fulfilling lives of both hedonism or austerity.
Clerics, Paladins, and other religious studies can pull from the Void Between as though it's a deity - it is, indeed, powerful beyond all measure in its emptiness.
Clerics and Paladins that pursue this often have to spend 300 days doing work as directed by their temple without talking or objecting, to reflect on how little their actions mean and how powerful they can or cannot be without a voice. The tasks assigned to them can vary from cleaning or construction to fighting for or against other factions. The important part is to reflect on the grand consequence of actions and how powerless words can be when actions are all that matter.
(During this time, they are allowed to speak only to cast spells as provided by their power)
Acolytes that past the first test and are accepted into the 300 days are offered robes or armor, as appropriate, in a mysterious, shifting blue color. This marking lets others know that they are among the Void Between and may or may not be able to speak out loud or may choose not to.
The Void Between's primary focus is on increasing travel between planets and planes by comforting those who need help, offering navigation, or local guides for certain places. Most places offer a small place for the Void Between and in large or populated places, the Void Between may act as travel brokers or information guides. In some places, they are also the only healers or guards.
They oppose factions that inhibit this travel, especially piracy or embargoes, but rarely go on the offense. Simply reducing their efforts to the afflicted parties often at least puts a strain on long-term plans of those factions but they rarely even announce that they are doing so.
The Void Between is also one of the few factions that promotes necromancy. As people die and leave their bodies, those become something that can easily be reused without hurting others and are otherwise useless. When pressed for combat, the Void Between will try to stablize those dying, even opponents, but if one does die, a Cleric or Wizard is likely to bring that body to life with necromancy and continue to use them in defense.
Most of the Void Between refuses to use spells such as Speak With Dead or Resurrection, as they believe once you are dead, your soul is gone and there is no afterlife. They will attempt certain emergency spells, such as Revivify, but any attempts to talk with a departed soul are thought to be at best charlatains or at worst demons or devils impersonating the departed.
The Void Between's primary clerican domains are Twilight and Peace
Paladins are often Oath of the Watchers or Oath of Devotion.
Monks are often Way of Mercy or Drunken Master. Way of Shadow and Way of Sun Soul would be extremely rare and likely be excluded from many things if not outright asked to leave the faith.
Druids, though rare, are almost universally Circle of the Stars druids.
Necromancer Wizards are often welcome and taught that some of their abilities are good and useful but some, such as draining life away, are dangerous and should be used with great care.
Although they welcome almost any classes (and subclasses), classes that have ties to light, darkness/shadow, or murder are usually not as welcomed.
Consorting with fiends is forbidden except in extreme or purely diplomatic cases, though tiefling and other plane-touched races are perfectly okay to interact with, serve with, or be allowed to surrender to the void. Someone who regularly summons or barters with fiends will find their abilities withdrawn by the Void Between or even pursued as heretics.
Characters who have a Warlock patron of a Great Old One cannot join the ranks of the Void Between. Great Old Ones taint the void between the stars from their reach beyond them and are an anathema to the faith. Great Old Ones and their followers are to be avoid, ignored, or if necessary, defeated. There can be no redemption for those tained from beyond the stars.
Those granted powers by the Void Between must make a reasonable attempt to save intelligent creatures - except those related to Great Old Ones or Fiends - or risk losing the powers of their faith.
