The Clutchborn are a collective of spacefaring lizardfolk tribes. They worship a reptillian goddess known as the Great Clutchmother, and they believe the Crystal Spheres are her eggs.
The primary mission of the Clutchborn is to reproduce and expand as far and wide as possible. To this end, the Clutchborn engage in selective breeding and enhanced incubation. They incubate their eggs in “incubator ships,” which are kept in close orbits around stars. The additional solar energy speeds the lizardfolk's rate of maturation, increasing their overall reproductive rate as well as their initial physical size and capacity for learning.
Lizardfolk spelljamming ships tend to resemble insects, such as the dragonfly and wasp classes of ship. However, they also engage in widespread raiding and piracy and have been known to employ “salvaged” ships from other races in their fleets.
The primary enemies of the lizardfolk are the neogi. The lizardfolk manage to cooperate with most other races they come across (if somewhat warily) and can often be seen serving aboard human or multiracial ships. The lizardfolk initially entered space as slaves of the mind flayers.
